3. KHELO INDIA YOUTH GAMES:
(a) It is the sixth edition of the flagship event under the Indian government’s Khelo India initiative, concluded on 31 January 2024.
(b) Games held from 19 to 31 Jan 2024.
(c) Tamil Nadu hosted the KIYG 2024 in four cities – Chennai, Madurai, Trichy and Coimbatore.
(d) A total of 926 medals – 278 gold, 278 silver and 370 bronze – were on offer across 26 sports at KIYG 2024 Tamil Nadu.
(e) Maharashtra defended their Khelo India Youth Games title after topping the medals tally with 57 gold medals, 48 silver and 53 bronze. It was their fourth KIYG title.
4. THE KHELO INDIA WINTER GAMES 2024:
(a) It is the fourth edition of the annual event in the Khelo India calendar.
(b) The Union Territory of Ladakh is making its debut as hosts this year alongside the UT of Jammu & Kashmir.
(c) The first part of KIWG 2024 will be held in Ladakh from 2nd to 6th February. The second part of the Games will be held in Gulmarg, Jammu and Kashmir from February 21-25.
(d) Union Minister for Youth Affairs & Sports and Information & Broadcasting, Anurag Singh Thakur to inaugurate the opening ceremony of the games at the NDS stadium, Leh on 2nd February.
(e) Khelo India Winter Games 2024 mascot, snow leopard ‘Sheen-e She’ (Shan).
