New Records Created in Para archery competition

Nine out of Nine ..

The first day of Para archery competition started with a bang as 09 new Paralympic Records were set during Ranking rounds at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games in Yumenoshina Park, at Tokyo (Japan)

  1. WU Chunyan (China) broke a previous Paralympic record after hitting 642,
  2. Whilst HE Zihao became the first compound man to reach 700 points as he shot 705 in the 72-arrow qualifying round.
  3. CHEN Minyi also made her mark in W1 Women with 640 points, which is six points more than the Paralympic record.
  4. PR China continued to show their imperious form in the mixed team events. In the Recurve Mixed Team, they set a new record of 1281 and finished with a new world record in the W1 mixed team after scoring 1,290 points.
  5. Jess Stretton (Great Britain) scored a new record at 695 points in Compound Women.
  6. Whilst Nihat Turkmenoglu (Turkey) hit 661 in W1 men.
  7. Gholamreza Rahimi (Iran) set a new record of 644 in Recurve Men.
  8. People’s Republic of China made their stamp on the competition as they recorded five out of Nine of the records.
  9. For the first time in Paralympic history, Para archery qualification records are recognised in mixed team events having been only introduced in 2018.

The first medal event in Para archery will begin on 28 August with the mixed team W1.
