The 1ST medal & A Gold Medal of the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games goes to Australia

The 24 years Old , Australia’s “Paige Greco” has become the first gold medallist of the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games after winning the women’s C1-3 3,000m individual pursuit event held today at Izu Velodrome. . It was the first medal at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games to be wo.

She lead for the whole race against her People’s Republic of China rival WANG Xiaomei to claim gold in a world record time of 3:50.815.

The bronze medal went to Germany’s Denise Schindler, who beat Clara Brown of the USA in by almost five seconds.

The world record in the women’s C3 3,000m individual pursuit already broken twice before the final.
Wang broke the record in her qualifying race with a 3:55.781 but just two races later the Australian stole her world record crown back, storming home in 3:52.283.

It was almost eight seconds fastest then the world record she had set in March 2019.

What might be even more unbelievable is the fact that Greco actually competed in Para athletics at the Rio 2016 Games and only made her international Para cycling debut in 2019.

She’s not just fast on the track either but is also has three gold medals from the 2019 UCI Para-cycling Road World Cup circuit.

She might be relatively new to the world of Para cycling ,but Greco has taken the world by storm and stamping her name after winning this Gold as one of the next gen cyclist.
