1. Tokyo Paralympics 2020 :
Today on August 29, at the Tokyo Paralympics 2020, BHAVINA PATEL playing for* a chance at the Gold medal.
Paddler Bhavinaben Patel to take on Ying Zhou in summit clash of women’s singles Class-4 event. Bhavina became the first Indian to enter the final of a table tennis event in the Paralympics with a hard-fought 3-2 win over China’s Miao Zhang.
2. National sports day is observed today: The National Sports Day in India is celebrated on 29 August, on the birth anniversary of hockey player Major Dhyan Chand. This day marks the birthday of Major Dhyan Chand Singh, the hockey player who won gold medals in Olympics for India in the years 1928, 1932 and 1936.
3. The National Sports Awards is the collective name given to the six sports awards of Republic of India. These are awarded annually by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. They are presented by the President of India in the same ceremony at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, usually on 29th August each year:-
