1. India Men’s and Women’s national football teams to participate in upcoming Asian Games: Sports Minister Anurag Thakur. In a tweet, Mr Thakur said his Ministry has decided to relax the rules to facilitate participation of both teams, which were not qualifying as per the existing criterion. He added that the Ministry decided to grant the relaxation keeping in mind their latest performances in recent times.
2. In Badminton, India’s Lakshya Sen will meet Kanta Tsuneyama of Japan and H.S. Prannoy play against Kidambi Srikanth in the Men’s Singles pre-quarterfinals of Japan Open in Tokyo.
Lakshya Sen beat his compatriot Priyanshu Rajawat 21-15, 12-21, 24-22 to seal his place in the second round.
3. In Cricket, India will meet West Indies in the 1st ODI of the three-match series at Kensington Oval, Bridgetown, Barbados today. The match will begin at 7 p.m. (IST).
4. India finished 2nd on the medals tally at the recently concluded ISSF Junior Shooting World Championships 2023 in Changwon, South Korea. Indian shooters bagged 17 medals, which include 6 Gold, 6 Silver, and 5 Bronze.
5. The Philippines stunned hosts New Zealand 1-0 in a group A match at Wellington on Tuesday, to earn their first-ever victory in the FIFA Women’s World Cup.
6. The Softball Association of India (SBAI) unveiled a 16-member Indian women’s team, which will compete at the Asian Games in Hangzhou to begin from 23rd September.
7. WWE legend Hulk Hogan has got engaged to his girlfriend Sky Daily at the age of 69. The duo have been dating each other since early last year. It is Hogan’s third engagement.
