2. WOMEN’S WORLD BOXING CHAMPIONSHIPS. – Nikhat, Lovlina, Nitu, Saweety storm into Women’s World Boxing Championships final
(a) Indian boxer Saweety Boora wins her semifinal bout against Emma Sue Greentree of Australia to enter the finals.
(b) Olympic medalist Lovlina Borgohain beats Li Qian of China in Semi-finals; Enters the finals.
(c) Star pugilist Nikhat Zareen and Nitu Ghanghas have entered the finals in the Women’s World Boxing Championships being held in New Delhi, assuring India of two Silver medals at least.
Nitu Ghanghas will face Mongolia’s Lutsaikhan Altantsetseg in the final of the 45-48kg category.
Nikhat Zareen will face Vietnam’s Nguyen Thi Tam in the 50kg category final.
3. India won a silver and a bronze while China retained its top spot by winning two gold medals on the second day of the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup shooting championship in Bhopal, MP.
India’s world champion Rudraksh Patil and R. Narmada Nitin won bronze in the 10m air rifle mixed team event, while Varun Tomar and Rhythm Sangwan won silver in the second event of the day.
4. Four-day Raghu Sinha ITF Tennis tournament 2023 to begin at Jaipur Club courts.
5. Asia Cup 2023 is likely to be held in Pakistan with another overseas venue to host India’s matches. UAE, Oman, Sri Lanka and even England are potential contenders to host five matches including at least two India-Pakistan contests.
