1. India’s medal tally rises to 76 with 26 gold in Berlin Special Olympics World Games.
2. Union Sports Minister Anurag Singh Thakur flagged off “Bharat in Paris” campaign with a short marathon at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi.
The campaign has been launched by Indian Olympic Association (IOA) to create awareness and promote sports across India ahead of the Paris Olympics games. The 2024 Olympics will take place from 26 July to 11 August in France, at Paris.
3. Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Anurag Singh Thakur has commended Team India on their outstanding achievements at the ACBS Asian U-21 Men’s Snooker Championship 2023.
4. The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) ad hoc committee has exempted six protesting wrestlers from initial trials for Asian Games. It allowed the wrestlers to appear in one-bout shoot-off in August where they’ll face winners of trials from their respective weight categories. The six wrestlers are Vinesh Phogat, Bajrang Punia, Sakshee Malikkh, Sangeeta Phogat, Satyawart Kadian and Jitender Kinha.
5. India Tour of West Indies ODI and Test Squad 2023 Announced: Pujara dropped, Gaikwad-Yashasvi get maiden Test call-up. After the disappointment of the loss of the World Test Championship final against Australia at the Oval, India have made some big calls by bringing in some fresh faces for the Test setup. Veteran batter Cheteshwar Pujara has been dropped from the squad, with uncapped batters Yashaswi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad being drafted in.
Team India will be touring the Caribbean for a complete tour where they’ll play two Tests, 3 ODIs and 5 T20Is over one month. The series starts with the Test series starting July 12, followed by ODIs and T20Is.
