A Delhi High Court on Saturday declined to consider a plea against direct entry to wrestlers Bajrang Punia and Vinesh Phogat to represent India in Asian Games in 65 Kg (Freestyle) and 53 Kg (Women Wrestling) categories respectively. Asian Games are to be held in Hangzhou, China from September 23 to October 08, 2023.
3. Rain stops play on Day 3 of India vs West Indies 2nd Test in Trinidad:
West Indies resumed their first innings at the overnight score of 86 for 1 against India on the third day of second and final test at Port of Spain in Trinidad. The hosts were 117 for 2 when game stopped due to wet outfield. They were trailing India by 321 runs.
Earlier, India scored 438 runs in their first innings, riding on magnificent 121 run innings by Virat Kohli.
4. Third and decisive One Day International match played at Mirpur Dhaka between India and Bangladesh women cricket teams, results in a draw which leads to 1-1 tie.
Earlier the Indian team won a three match T20I series by 2-1 against the Bangladesh in Shere Bangla Stadium, Mirpur Dhaka.
5. The Indian pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty entered the men’s doubles final of the Korea Open tournament at Yeosu. The Indian men’s doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty will face Indonesian top seeds Fajar Alfian and Muhammad Rian Ardianto in the final of the Korea Open 2023 badminton tournament at the Jinnam Stadium in Yeosu on 23rd July 2023 . The Indian duo defeated the Republic of China’s Liang Weikeng and Wang Chang, currently world No. 2 in the badminton rankings, 21-15, 24-22 to make their third final of the year.
6. England vs Australia Ashes 4th Test Day 4: Australia posted 214/5 at Stumps on Day 4, in what turned out to be rain-hit Saturday, at Old Trafford in Manchester. Marnus Labuschagne’s ton proved to be key as the visitors trail by 61 runs and will resume batting on Day 5, with Mitchell Marsh (31*) and Cameron Green (3*) remaining unbeaten. The entire first session was washed out and the second session began after a huge delay. Labuschagne bagged a gritty century, slamming 111 runs off 173 balls. Meanwhile, Joe Root took the only wicket of the day, dismissing Labuschagne.
