neeraj chopra wins gold medal of 2022 at Kuortane Games

1. Olympic gold medal-winning javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra on 18 June bagged his first gold medal of 2022 at Kuortane Games in Finland. He won the event with a best throw of 86.69 metres.

Earlier this week, Chopra bagged silver medal at Paavo Nurmi Games with a national record-breaking throw of 89.30 metres.

2. BCCI President Sourav Ganguly has said that from the upcoming series against England, Team India head coach Rahul Dravid will pick players who are likely to feature in the T20 World Cup 2022. England-India T20I series will begin on July 7.

3. World number 23 HS Prannoy crashed out of Indonesia Open 2022, ending India’s campaign on Saturday. Prannoy lost 16-21, 15-21 to world number 35 Zhao Jun Peng of China in the men’s singles semi-final.

4. India beat champions-elect Argentina 2-1 in a shootout in the first match of the two-legged FIH Women’s Pro League tie in Rotterdam on Saturday. Gurjit Kaur’s penalty corner conversion in the 51st minute helped India to level the score at 3-3 in the regulation time. Notably, this is India’s first win of any kind against Argentina in women’s hockey.

5. Ahead of the 44th Chess Olympiad, All India Chess Federation (AICF) President Dr Sanjay Kapoor said hosting the tournament for the first time in the country is a proud moment.
