1. India Wins Asia Cup Final 2023. India Win Title After 5 Years
India defeated Sri Lanka in a final to win the Asia Cup for the 8th time. India last won the tournament in 2018. On Sunday, Mohammed Siraj took 6 for 21 as Sri Lanka were bowled out for 50, the lowest ODI team total against India. India chased down a paltry target of 51 against Sri Lanka to win the Asia Cup for the 8th time. The result was a foregone conclusion after Mohammed Siraj had destroyed Sri Lanka’s batting line-up with figures of 6 for 21 off 7 overs on Sunday in Colombo after Dasun Shanaka won the toss and decided to bat.

2. Indian shooter Elavenil Valarivan won the gold medal in women’s 10m air rifle event at the ISSF World Cup 2023 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on Saturday.
3. Rohan Boppana bid adieu to Davis Cup on a winning note when he paired up with Yuki Bhambri to decimate the Moroccan pair of Elliot Benchetrit-Younes Lalami Laaroussi 6-2, 6-1 in the World Group II doubles match in Lucknow. This brought an end to his illustrious 21- year long Davis Cup career.
4. ASIAN GAMES SCHEDULED FROM 23TH SEPTEMBER TO 8TH OCTOBER.
(a) Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports released a revised list of the contingent for the upcoming 19th Asian Games to be held in Hangzhou, China.
(b) The updated list has added a total of 22 new athletes to the existing list and made changes for 25 members in the contingent.
(c) Modern Pentathlon was also added to the list, thus taking India’s participation to a total of 39 sporting disciplines at the event.
(d) The total contingent list for India now stands at 921 including 655 athletes and 260 coaches and support staff.
