1. Cabinet approves signing of Guarantees for hosting FIFA U-17 women’s World Cup 2022 in India.
India will host the event from 11th to 30th October. The Football matches will be played in Navi Mumbai, Goa and Bhubaneswar. 16 countries will participate in the event.
2. Durand Cup football, Mumbai City FC beat Mohammedan Sporting by 1-0. at Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan Kolkata and enters final . Which will be conclude on September 18.
The 2022 Durand Cup, also known as IndianOil Durand Cup due to sponsorship ties with Indian Oil Corporation, is the 131st edition of Durand Cup, the oldest football tournament in Asia, and also the first edition since it got recognised by Asian Football Confederation.
3. Women’s cricket, India will play the third and final Twenty20 match against England at Bristol today (15 Sep).
In last match, India defeated England by eight wickets in the second Twenty20 to level the three-match series 1-1 at County Ground, Derby.
Chasing 143 runs to win, India made 146 runs in 16.4 overs for the loss of two wickets.
4. National Sports Development Fund NSDF of the Department of Sports signed a Memorandum of Understandings- MoUs with National Thermal Power Corporation-NTPC and Rural Electrification Corporation- REC for the development of sports in India.
