2. On Saturday, Maharashtra’s Akanksha Nitture bagged the Girl’s Singles tennis title, beating Karnataka’s Sunita Maruri 6-7(4), 7-6(4), 6-4. Diya Chitale and Swastika Ghosh got together to defeat Haryana’s Suhana Saini and Prithoki Chakraborti 14-12, 11-9, 11-6 in table tennis.
Swimmer Apeksha Fernandes eventually put Maharashtra ahead by winning the 200m Girls Individual Medley, setting a new meet mark of 2:25.18s.
3. Young Indian Grandmaster R Praggnanandhaa emerged winner in the Norway Chess Group A open chess tournament with 7.5 points from nine rounds.

The previous record was held by Nathan Astle and Craig McMillan, who shared a 222-run stand against Zimbabwe in Wellington in 2000.
7. AFC Asian Cup qualifiers: Sunil Chhetri, Sahal Abdul Samad score as India beat Afghanistan 2-1
The Indian men’s football team showcased another brilliant performance as they beat Afghanistan by 2-1 in their second outing of the AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers. Denied for 86 minutes, Chhetri put India ahead with a brilliant free-kick from just over 20 yards, taking only a couple of steps before unleashing his shot straight into the right corner of the net beating Afghanistan’s goalkeeper. It was the Indian superstar’s 83rd goal in international football as he closed in on second-placed Argentine genius Lionel Messi among active players.
