2. The Asia Cup 2022 is the 15th edition of the Asia Cup Cricket Tournament, which will start from 27th August 2022 to 11th September 2022. The Asia Cup was originally scheduled to be held in 2020, however, the tournament was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It was rescheduled in 2021 to be held in Sri Lanka, but then again, it was shifted to the United Arab Emirates due to the economic and political crisis in Sri Lanka. The Asia Cup 2022 was supposed to be hosted by Pakistan after retaining the rights however, in October 2021, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) announced that Sri Lanka would host the tournament in 2022.
3. Tokyo Olympic gold medallist javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra has achieved yet another historic feat as he became the first Indian to win the prestigious Zurich Diamond League Final 2022 in Switzerland. Neeraj Chopra’s second throw, measuring 88.44 metre, won him the Diamond League trophy.
4. Durand Cup 2022 : Mohammedan SC defeated Kerala Blasters FC by Three – Nil in the the first Quarter Final at Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata.
5. Ex-India fast bowler Ashish Nehra has named his Team India squad for the T20 World Cup 2022. Nehra included Ravindra Jadeja, Yuzvendra Chahal and Ravichandran Ashwin as spinners in the squad. He also named both Rishabh Pant and Dinesh Karthik in the squad.
6. The third and deciding Test between England and South Africa will resume at The Oval on Saturday after the play was suspended on Friday following Queen Elizabeth II’s demise. “All players…coaches will wear black armbands,” the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) said. After the opening day’s play was washed out, Saturday’s play will be considered to be Day 3.
7. Carlos Alcaraz stops Frances Tiafoe’s US Open run for 1st Grand Slam final. Alcaraz will face No 7 Casper Ruud for the championship on Sunday. Carlos Alcaraz surged into his first Grand Slam final and gave himself a chance to become No 1 at age 19 by ending Frances Tiafoe’s run at the US Open with a 6-7 (6), 6-3, 6-1, 6-7 (5), 6-3 victory on Friday night.
