WRESTLING: 6 GOLD MEDALS, PERFECT 12
India completed a Perfect 12 in wrestling as the popular sport continued to be a big contributor to the country’s medal tally at the Commonwealth Games.
All 12 Indian wrestlers won medals in the Commonwealth Games 2018 at Gold Coast and the wrestling team has been able to repeat the feat.
Paralympic Silver medalist Bhavinaben Hasmukhbhai Patel became the first Para TT player to win a gold medal at the Commonwealth Games after she defeated Nigeria’s Ifechukwude Ikpeoyi by 12-10, 11-2, 11-9 in the women’s single class 3-5 final in Birmingham on Saturday.
2. WI vs IND – India captain Rohit Sharma expressed his happiness with the team’s performance on Saturday as they clinched the T20I series against West Indies.
India posted a mammoth 191 runs in 20 overs with Rishabh Pant, Sharma and Sanju Samson chipping in with valuable knocks of 44, 33 and 30 respectively.
In response, the hosts struggled with the Indian bowlers picking up wickets at regular intervals to secure a 59-run win on Saturday. West Indies were all out for 132 runs.
