5. German coach of Lokomotiv Moscow football club resigns from role in protest against invasion of Ukraine. In a statement published by German newspaper Bild, Gisdol said he had been forced to take action having witnessed what is going on in Ukraine, the Reuters news agency said.
“I cannot pursue my calling in a country whose leader is responsible for a war of aggression in the middle of Europe,” the 52-year-old Gisdol said.
6. World Athletics suspends Russian and Belarusian athletes: World is horrified by what Russia has done, says Coe
The World Athletics on Tuesday said all athletes, support personnel and officials from Russia and Belarus will be excluded from all World Athletics Series events for the foreseeable future with its president Sebastian Coe condemning the invasion of Ukraine.
