Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) attracted the ire of fans on social media following a poor performance in their recent IPL 2025 match, with a major portion of the anger being reserved for the team management for not using Rinku Singh to his best abilities. Even though he is one of the IPL 2023 breakout stars and has performed under pressure consistently, Rinku has been batting lower down the order and not been used to his potential this season, frustrating fans and cricket pundits alike.
Fans vent anger on social media
The hashtag #JusticeForRinku became popular on X (formerly Twitter) soon after KKR’s loss, with thousands of fans airing their grievances regarding the treatment of the young batter. “Sorry Rinku Singh, you deserve so much better. “This management has insulted your talent,” tweeted one user, joining the thoughts of thousands of people who think that the left-hander must be promoted higher in the order.
Several of them pointed out how Rinku has repeatedly shown the capacity to finish the game and remain calm in high-pressure situations, and yet remains underused in vital moments. Even a few indicated the way he is being left out or substituted late into matches might be part of the reason why KKR is not performing consistently this season.
KKR’s difficulties persist in IPL 2025
This campaign has not been one in which KKR supporters dared hope. The side, possessing so much depth of talent, has not found its balance yet, and experimentation as well as dubious tactics have hampered outcomes. Middle-order malaise has emerged as a staple, and some believe it may be that placing Rinku permanently in a higher order can address a major portion of their batting woes.
The management, however, have remained tight-lipped, offering no explanation for their decision-making around Rinku’s role. Head coach Chandrakant Pandit and captain Shreyas Iyer are yet to address the criticism directly.
Experts back Rinku’s inclusion in key moments
Even former cricketers have spoken up, many of them sharing the opinion that Rinku Singh should have a bigger place in the setup of the team. “He’s a match-winner, not someone you send in the last overs with a mountain to climb,” observed one of India’s former cricketers in a commentary gig.
As KKR tries to recover their campaign, one thing is certain—neglecting Rinku Singh’s talent can prove expensive. The fans are observing, and they aren’t silent.
