Tokyo Paralympics 2020 concluded in the evening of Sunday . The Closing Ceremony was organized at Olympics Stadium . Tokyo said good bye to all . This 16th Edition of Paralympics was Recorded as a “Historic Paralympics” in the books of India.
Indian para Athletes Scripted History, Breaks Records, Struggled Hard , Made Podium Finishes , Attained Top World Rankings , Witnessed various Comebacks, alongwith Few disappointments .
Although India has to wait till day 5 ,for medals but once the medal account was opened by Bhavin with Historic Silver it continued till last .
Indian Camping begins with Silver of Bhavina Patel in Table- Tennis & Ended up with Flourish Gold of Krishna Nagar in Badminton, Raising India’s medal count to 19 – (05 GOLD , 08 SILVER & 06 BRONZE)
Track and field won India’s bulk of the medals i.e. (8) in Tokyo, but new frontiers opened in Shooting (5), Badminton (4), Table tennis (1) and Archery (1) too.
The landmark campaign , India finished among the top nations at 24th – a feat that beat the wildest expectations.
The performance is more special considering as India had won only 12 medals overall since India first entered the 1968 Tel Aviv Paralympics, but In this 16th edition , “India Grabbed 19 medals ,In a Single Edition of Paralympics”.
There was promise of a medal surge but nobody was certain until the athletes broke the barriers. Each one had an inspiring story to share, had overcome numerous hurdles, and had conquered their deepest fears.
