Eminent Sports Journalist Novy Kapadia passed away today afternoon from complications related to his illness.
He was renowned sports commentator and author had been suffering from a motor neurone disease, a rare disease that causes the nerves in the spine and brain to lose function over time.
His medical condition left him immobilize and he was confined to his house for the last two years. He was kept on life support for the last month. Novy had no immediate family since the death of his sister Bunny.
Novy considered as the voice of Indian football. A journalist, critic and commentator often considered to be India’s foremost football exepert and commentator. He had covered nine FIFA World Cup tournaments as well.
He was a former professor at SGTB Khasla College, Delhi University and the former Deputy Proctor of the university from 2003-2010.
Kapadia was a Parsi Zoroastrian, and had written a number of books ranging from Sports, especially on football, literary criticism and to his Parsi heritage.
Novy’s contribution to Indian sports especially his contribution to Indian football through his coverage will be remembered by all.
