Ramita Jindal scored 631.3 points to make the 10 metre air rifle final at the Paris Olympics on Sunday. In a tough field, two Indians were there aiming at the targets, Elavenil Valarivan and Ramita. Elavenil collapsed but Ramita shot with poise under pressure in her maiden Olympics.

The ability to shoot minus pressure and withstand the challenge made the effort from Ramita special. This was more like challenging herself, and Ramita was confident right through the match. After all, she had done well on Saturday as well in the mixed event with Arjun Babuta.

Ramita has prepared rigorously for a long time duration. She stays away from distractions and her training routine according to her coaches is one of intensity and wanting to be relaxed. This time, the Indian shooters had to fight for their places in the four trials and Ramita smoked it in New Delhi and Bhopal.

On Sunday, hours of practice stood out as the scores which Ramita turned in reflected her positivity. An aggregate score of 631.5 points after 60 shots was proof of her efforts against pressure.

Ramita is from Haryana and won a bronze medal in individual event in the Asian Games last year in Hangzhou. The other shooter in fray, Elavenil Valarivan was tight and collapsed again under pressure.
