In all, nine students from Delhi University will be part of the contingent representing India at the Paris Olympics, more than double the number compared to four in the Tokyo Olympics, Vice Chancellor Prof Yogesh Singh said.

Out of the 21 Indian players participating in shooting at the Paris Olympics, 11 are female, and six of these are DU students, the maximum number for any sport from the university, said Prof Singh.

In table tennis, out of the eight Indian players, four are women, with one being from DU, he said, hoping that all of them will perform commendably and win medals for the country.

Dr Anil Kumar Kalkal, director of DU sports council, stated that of the nine players, Manu Bhaker, Amoj Jacob, and Manika Batra also participated in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Ramita Jindal, a current third year BCom (Hons) student at Hansraj College, and Rhythm Sangwan, a second-year English (Hons) student at Lady Shri Ram College, are among those representing the university, added Dr. Kalkal.

Dr Kalkal added that Manika Batra, participating in table tennis, was a sociology (Hons) student at Jesus and Mary College in 2016.
