15 days to go for the Paris Olympics, there is a buzz in the air. Forget what is happening, politically, in Paris, with election results not according to script. That, in no way will, affect hosting the Summer Games from July 26.
Indeed, this Olympics is about gender equality and how much the world has changed, post Covid. Tokyo was a nightmare, when the host city was under a lockdown in 2021. No fans, empty stands and no clapping for athletes, it was harsh. No, Paris will be different, there will spectators and fans and the arenas will be full from athletics to boxing and track and field to swimming. The big ticket events are sold out, and for the city at large, this will be a period of celebration.
For some residents of Paris, this is a time to leave their own city as they fear chaos and crowds. Well, for the rest of the world, Paris is a destination, a dream a city which will witness pulsating action from global athletes where gender equality will be the focus.
Away from the arena and field of play, logistics of hosting the Olympics will be to the second. Details will work out in perfection and for each person as part of the Games, the emphasis will be on delivering a good Games. There will be strict controls in place, in terms of security as well as anti doping measures.
The sheer number of cops and other personnel on duty ill be in thousands. At the same time, doping control agencies will also be in full force. From pre Games testing to actual testing when events are on, none will be spared. People want a dope free Games and not cheats at large.
So, as the 15 day deadline has come, the world is watching Paris, India included.
