Guru Angad Dev Teaching Learning Centre (GAD-TLC) of Ministry of Education located at  SGTB Khalsa College, University of Delhi organized for the first time One – week Online National Faculty Development Program  (FDP) on Promoting Excellence In Physical Education And Sports Through Innovation In Teaching And Learning, ICT & Professional Approach for physical education and sports professionals from 27th May 2021 to 02nd June 2021. More than 300 participants from all over the country attended this FDP. Dr. Vimal Rarh,  Project Head & Joint Director, GAD-TLC, was the National Coordinator of this program.

GAD-TLC which was inaugurated by the then Union HRD Minister Ms. Smriti Zubin Irani on 01 July 2016 has trained more than 45,000 teachers during the last one year of corona pandemic.

The Inauguration ceremony of the FDP was held on 27th May & the Chief Guest on this occasion was Shri. Jitender Singh, Former Minister, MYAS & Defence, Government of India besides a galaxy of eminent guests. The Valedictory session of the FDP was held on 2nd June  and in this event Dr. Sanjay Paswan, Former minister, Human Resources, Government of India was chief guest along.

The eminent guests included amongst others Prof. Ved Prakash, Former Chairman, University Grants Commission, Prof. A. K. Bakhshi,  Chairman, GAD-TLC, Vice-Chancellor, PDM University, Haryana, Prof. Jaswinder Singh, Director, GAD-TLC and Principal, SGTB Khalsa College, University of Delhi, Dr. Vimal Rarh,  Prof. J.S. Naruka, Former Vice-Chancellor, Lakshmibai National Institute of Physical Education (LNIPE), Prof. Suman Kundu, Director, South Campus, University of Delhi  and Prof. Pankaj Sinha, Chairman, Delhi University Sports Council, Prof. Suman Sharma, Principal, Lady Shri Ram College For Women, Prof. Chinappa Reddy  President NAPESS & Dr. Dhananjoy Shaw, Former Principal, IGIPESS, University of Delhi.

Shri. Jitender Singh, appealed to all physical educationists to keep themselves informed  with the latest information & technology. As former minister of sports, government of India he gave emphasis to sports sciences.


Dr.Paswan in his address expressed the need to bridge the gap between cities & villages then only we can tap the talent and nurture talent to the fullest. He also highlighted that rural sports should be given importance.

In his keynote address at the inaugural event,  Prof. Ved Prakash, highlighted NEP 2020 and said that there is a lack of experts in the field of physical education & sports in the country.

Prof. A.K. Bakhshi in his address appealed to all the participants to embrace technology and take advantage of e-resources & digitalization and create pathways for the future.

The week long online FDP had brainstorming sessions by very eminent speakers, including Prof. A.K. Uppal, Former Vice Chancellor of Jiwaji University, Gwalior, Prof. A. K. Bakhshi,  Dr. George Abraham, Principal, YMCA Physical Education College, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, Dr. Sandeep Tiwari, Principal, Indira Gandhi Institute of Physical Education & Sports Science, University of Delhi, Ms. Neelanjana Singh, a well-known Nutrition Therapist & Wellness Consultant, Dr. Vimal Rarh, Prof. P. Ravi Kumar, Prof. Jaswinder  Singh,  Prof. Ikram Hussain, AMU, Aligarh , Prof. Kalpana Sharma Dean Faculty of Education & Director ASPESS & Sports, Amity University, Uttar Pradesh. Dr. Meenakshi Pahuja, a well-known swimmer and faculty in LSR College was FDP Coordinator.

The topics covered in the program  included:

Emerging Challenges and Issues in Physical Education and Sports; Curriculum Development; e-learning and teaching of Physical Education; Pedagogy of Physical Education; Digital Transformation in Higher Education in India; National Education Policy (NEP)-2020 : Physical Education and Sports; How to Achieve Excellence in Higher Education in India in the 21st Century; Fitness Management and Wellness; Teacher Education in Physical Education etc.

Participants expressed their satisfaction for the first ever online national FDP in Physical Education & sports.
