New Delhi, December 21, 2024: Following its successful launch earlier in November, the Kho Kho Federation of India (KKFI)’s nationwide program, in partnership with Sports For All (SFA), continues to gain momentum with active participation from schools across multiple cities.
Building on its initial success, the program has now expanded to include prominent educational institutions across four major cities. In Jaipur, Tagore Public School, St. Saviour School, Kids Club Sr. Sec. School, and SRN International School have joined the initiative. The program has also made significant inroads in Ahmedabad with Ved International, Kenalily School, and Aes Ag Primary School actively participating. Pune’s City Pride School has also become part of this growing movement.
Additionally, schools in Delhi NCR and its surrounding regions have embraced the initiative with enthusiasm. Institutions such as Apollo Convent School, Holambi Kalan; Crescent Public School, Pitampura; DLF Public School, Ghaziabad; Doon Bharti Public School, Faridabad; GR International School, Pooth Khurd; Gyaananda School, Gurugram; Indirapuram Public School, Crossing Republik; KC International School, Jalalpur, Noida Extension; MDH International School, Sector 6, Dwarka; Prudence School, Dwarka; Sapphire International School, Noida; St. Mary’s School, Greater Noida West; and St. Froebel Sr. Sec. School, Paschim Vihar have joined the grassroots movement.
In addition to the previous 30 schools across India, this expansion brings the total number of participating schools to over 60 on the way to their target of 200 schools by January 11.
“Our mission to transform Kho Kho from a traditional game to a globally recognized sport continues to gather pace. The enthusiastic response from schools reinforces our belief that by introducing this beautiful sport to young minds, we are not just developing players, but creating ambassadors who will carry forward the legacy of an incredible game that is indigenous to India, to every part of the world,” said Shri Sudhanshu Mittal, President of the Kho Kho Federation of India.
“The response has been overwhelming,” added MS Tyagi, General Secretary of the Kho Kho Federation of India. “This grassroots initiative is crucial for building national interest and creating a talent pipeline for India’s indigenous sport.”
As the countdown to the Kho Kho World Cup (January 13-19) continues, these development initiatives remain pivotal in nurturing young talent and building a strong foundation for the sport. With India’s bid for hosting the 2036 Olympics, these young athletes represent the future of Kho Kho on the global stage.
