VIVO IPL: MATCH 3: KKR VS SRH
Day3 of IPL marked the victory for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH)by ten runs.
The spectators at M. A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Sunday were glued to their seats while Nitish Rana and Rahul Tripathi gave SRH a run for their money.
SRH dawdled with their openers heading back without tasting the new ball. David Warner getting caught straight in the hands of the keeper on the bowling of Prasidh Krishna and Wriddhiman Saha stumped at the delivery of Shakib Al Hasan.
Manish Pandey and Jonny Bairstow ,the SRH power due ended powerplay at 35 runs and followed suit was their 50 runs partnership. Individually both the players didn’t shy away from going all out. Pandey knocked a six over Shakib and Bairstow added 15 runs in SRS kitty against Andrew Russell’s delivery.
However soon their streak came to a halt at the hands of Pat Cummins in the 13th over waving off Bairstow back to the stands.
Next was Mohammad Nabi who pumped up the SRH score board by two boundaries with Pandey on the field. But his hype was caught by KKR skipper Eoin Morgan. In an attempt to push the ant, Abdul Samad hit two huge sixes off Cummins.
Despite dialling it all in, Russell successfully defended KKR’s total and rendered SRH’s efforts in vain.
KKR opened on a strong start with Rana and Shubman Gill marking three boundaries in the first two overs. While Gill delivered a four, Rana untethered by Sandeep Sharma smashed three serial boundaries. The duo unabashedly continued to add to their fifity run partnership while tossing the bowlers delivery with arial shots .
But in the seventh over, SRH’s Rashid Khan took matters in his own hands and took out Gill. The next man up was Rahul Tripathi. He and Rana in the middle complemented each other and brought KKR at 83-1 halfway into the innings. Rana concealed his 50 by attacking the right arm medium pacer, Vijay Shankar in the 10TH over in style. Tripathi nailed his 50 before he got dismissed by T Natarajan in 16TH over.
To protect Sunrisers from Russell’s grip, Rashid sent him straight to the stands. Mohammad Nabi on the other hand, stole the show from KKR by taking consecutive wickets of the fiery Rana and skipper Morgan.
In the last leg Dinesh Karthik pushed the score by hitting 22 Off 9 deliveries, concluding KKR’s a decent score at 187 at a loss of 6 wickets.
