We are now just a few days away from the opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games! The enthusiasm that has taken hold of France is palpable. As we approach this unique celebration of sport, we all feel that the French people are ready to welcome the world’s best athletes with the hospitality and passion for sport that they are renowned for around the world. Millions of enthusiasts have already welcomed the Olympic flame at each stage of its journey across the country with immense enthusiasm. We are all looking forward to an unforgettable celebration of Olympic sport and French culture in the weeks to come.

The stage is set for an Olympic Games that will be younger, more inclusive, more urban and more sustainable. These Olympic Games will be the first to fully comply with the IOC’s Olympic Agenda reforms, from start to finish. Fans will be able to attend events such as road cycling, triathlon and the marathon for free. The public will be able to participate in events such as the “Marathon Pour Tous” where 40,000 runners will take the same route just hours before the Olympic athletes. Finally, millions of French children now play sports every day as part of their schools. Another important milestone will be reached in terms of equality: for the first time in the history of the Olympic Games, there will be full gender parity, as the IOC has allocated exactly the same number of places to female and male athletes. For all these reasons, the Paris 2024 slogan “Let’s Open the Games Wide” is the perfect illustration of the reforms of our Olympic Agenda.
