Internationals give a tough fight, but US grab the points to lead 8-2 in President’s Cup

The United States won a second straight session 4-1 to go 8-2 up, but the Internationals Team fought very hard in the President’s Cup.

Playing in front of packed crowds, the Internationals at one stage were tied in three matches with one, two and three holes to go in them. They tied two and lost one on the 18th.

Two of the five matches in fourball were won by comfortable margins by the US and one right at the end and two others were tied with the point being split and .

Jordan Spieth and Justin Thomas, complimenting each other, beat Adam Scott and Cam Davis 2 and 1 in a clash that was going the way of the American duo all the time.

The now established pairing of Patrick Cantlay and Xander Schauffele beat Hideki Matsuyama and the crowd favourite Tom Kim 3 and 2 as the US went 6-1 up.

The other three matches were tied as they came to the closing stages. While Max Homa, partnering Billy Horschel, holed two big birdies to secure a full point, two other matches were tied.

Sungjae Im put in a brilliant show once again as he combined with Sebastian Munoz to snatch half a point from World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler and Sam Burns. It t (U.S.) and Sungjae Im/Sebastian Munoz (INT).

Kevin Kisner and Cameron Young of the US were also held to a tie by Mito Pereira and Christiaan Bezuidenhout.

All matches are worth one point, for a total of 30 points. There are no playoffs, with each side receiving a half point if a match is tied after 18 holes. In a change inspired by the events of the 2003 Presidents Cup, if the match is deadlocked at the end of Singles play, the competition will be deemed a tie and the teams will share the Presidents Cup.
