New Delhi, March 6, 2025 – Gargi College proudly hosted and successfully concluded the Delhi
University Inter College Volleyball Tournament for Women on March 6, 2025. The tournament,
held under the aegis of the Delhi University Sports Council, witnessed enthusiastic participation
from colleges across the university, reinforcing the spirit of sportsmanship and competition.
This year, a total of 42 teams registered for the prestigious tournament, with 28 teams actively
competing over the course of nine days, from February 24 to March 6, 2025. A total of 36
thrilling matches were played, showcasing the exceptional talent and dedication of student-
athletes.
The tournament concluded with Mata Sundari College emerging as the champions, securing the
1st position. Gargi College claimed the 2nd position, while Lakshmibai College secured 3rd
place. In recognition of their exemplary sportsmanship, Lady Shri Ram College was honored
with the Fair Play Trophy for demonstrating outstanding spirit and discipline throughout the
tournament.
In addition to team achievements, several athletes were recognized for their exceptional
performances. The Best Player awards were conferred upon:
Ms. Shreya & Ms. Premika (Gargi College)
Ms. Nikki, Ms. Sanju & Ms. Preeti (Mata Sundari College)
Ms. Nandini (Lakshmibai College)
A special acknowledgment was extended to the Delhi Olympic Association, whose president
generously sponsored 48 t-shirts for the top four teams. Additionally, a cash prize of ₹8,000 was
awarded to the Best Players in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the tournament
and 2000/- for the groundsmen for their commitment and dedication.
The successful execution of this tournament marks a significant milestone for Gargi College,
which for the first time hosted an official volleyball tournament in collaboration with the Delhi
University Sports Council.
