Digital collectibles are the future of sports fandom

New Delhi, 23 August 2021: Rario, the world’s first officially licensed digital collectibles platform, announced an exclusive partnership with star cricketer Faf du Plessis. The association will enable Rario to mint digital collectibles of the South African cricketer’s iconic moments on-field. The platform has also signed Smriti Mandhana, Zaheer Khan, Shafali Verma and Shakib Al Hasan as exclusive player partners of Rario.

Rario uses blockchain technology to record exclusive ownership of digital assets showing a cricketer’s most memorable plays. This could be in the form of images, videos, or texts. By bringing this cutting-edge technology to cricket, Rario is giving fans the opportunity to own, sell and trade their favourite moments of cricket action.

Speaking on the partnership, Faf du Plessis said, “Be it DRS or Hot Spot, cricket has never shied away from embracing technology and innovation. I’m delighted to see digital collectibles make its way into cricket. This is the future of sports fandom. It gives fans a whole new way to get involved with the game. As a player, I am delighted to sign with Rario and be among the first to ride this new and exciting wave.”

Rario founder and CEO, Ankit Wadhwa said, “We are honoured to have Faf du Plessis join us in our journey to change the way cricket is consumed and enjoyed by fans across the world. He has given us some of the most unforgettable moments in recent cricket history. By leveraging blockchain technology, we will ensure these cricket moments are immortalised for fans to call their “own”.
