Mumbai’s well known hockey player Devindar Walmiki will be playing for prestigious known HGC Club in the upcoming Holland hockey league. He becomes the lone Indian player to be signed by HGC for the third time in his decade-long career. The other players who represented in the prestigious Holland league were former player and current Hockey India president Dilip Tirkey and striker Gagan Ajit Singh.
The Mumbai defender, who represented India in Olympics in 2016 and was part of the Indian team which won silver in Champions Trophy and gold in Asian Champions Trophy.
On his signing for the forthcoming season, Walmiki said, “It’s a great feeling for me to be signed for another season. It’s one of the biggest hockey leagues in the world and I’m looking forward to it. I still have a hunger and hope that one day I will make my comeback in the national side. Till date I don’t know the reason for being dropped from the Indian team back in 2017 but I still have high hopes. Playing in such a league boosts my confidence and I am very happy to join the HGC Club next weekend.”
