It has been one tiring yet enjoyable journey for the Men In Blue from Bridgetown, Barbados to New Delhi and then Mumbai. Landing in the Capital on Thursday morning and then a quick meeting with Prime Minister Narenda Modi, there was joy all around. Each member of the team posed for photos with the PM.
From the Lok Kalyan Marg, back to the airport in New Delhi and onwards to Mumbai, the Indian team was mobbed by fans all along. The players were happy to sign autographs, pose for pictures and enjoy the fun moments, non- stop.
As evening approached, the next flight landed in Mumbai, with the Indian team all excited. A sea of humanity was seen outside the airport in Mumbai and onwards to the main arena called the Wankhede Stadium. It was raining cats and dogs but people were lining up.
There were umbrellas held as well as raincoats in use for the fans who turned out in thousands. Indeed, the Marine Drive was choc a bloc and the entire stretch leading up to the Wankhede Stadium was bubbling with energy. People were waiting to see the Indian players in a special bus decorated for the occasion.

Those present in New Delhi and Mumbai were from all age groups, boys and girls, men and women. Traffic came to a standstill in Mumbai as the Wankhede Stadium was bursting at seams. Entry was free and perhaps this was reminiscent of the 2011 World Cup final when India won the title in the ODI format.
For Mumbaikars, to see Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya was special. For all the members of the team and the BCCI, this journey has been one of toil and reward. Celebrations will continue till late night, even though itтАЩs a week day.
