Adding another Silver, Nishad takes up India’s Medal Tally to 02. Nishad Kumar clinched a silver medal in men’s Para High Jump , T46/47.
In his debut in Paralympics, 23 years Himachali Boy , an Asian Medalist , World Bronze medalist showed his immense determination & mental strength . Clearing 1.89mts. in his 1st attempt, 1.98 mts in 2nd attempt & 2.02 mts in 1st attempt. Finally he takes a leap of 02.06 mts. in his 2nd attempt which assured his medal. This is his personal best,Simultaneously an Asian Record too.
USA’s Roderick Townsend cleared 02.15 mts & created new world record in category Claims Gold & USA’s Dallas Wise , who too cleared 02.06mts wins Bronze (technically after ties) .
The coaches, Nasem Ahmed & Satyanarayan showed satisfaction on his medal and are confident of achieving more in next few years.
The celebration has started at his village Badau, Una (Himachal Pradesh).
