New Delhi, June 22: Athletics Federation of India (AFI) condoles the passing of 84-year-old Yuriy Ogorodnik (Ukraine) who was associated with India as coach for nearly two decades. Ogorodnik died in Kharkiv on Monday.
The long-standing coach has had multiple stints in the country since the early 2000s.
AFI President Adille J. Sumariwalla said Yuriy Ogorodnik was a friend of Indian athletics and played a role in its evolution. “I am sad that we have lost a friend of Indian athletics. He made a difference with his approach to training and preparation for competition,” Mr. Sumariwalla said.
