1. North Korea fires two short-range ballistic missiles off its east coast on 28 Oct; South Korea says, no reports of damage, fired two short-range ballistic missiles felled outside of Japan’s exclusive economic zone.

2. Russia files complaint with UN Security Council; demands international investigation in US military-biological activities in Ukraine.

3. The US has imposed sanctions on the Iran-based 15 Khordad Foundation, accusing it of placing a bounty on ‘The Satanic Verses’ author Salman Rushdie, who was recently attacked during an event. The foundation allegedly increased the bounty announced earlier for killing Rushdie from $2.7 million to $3.3 million in 2012. The 75-year-old lost sight in one eye after the attack.

4. European Union lawmakers have reached a provisional agreement to cut CO2 emissions by 55% for new cars sold in 2030 compared to the levels of 2021. Further, EU negotiators agreed to reach zero-emission road mobility by 2035.
