1. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh held a telephonic conversation with the Defence Minister of Russian Federation Sergei Shoigu. He speaks to his Russian counterpart; stresses on dialogue & diplomacy for early resolution of Russia-Ukraine conflict.
Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu on telephonic conversation also conveyed his concerns about the provocations by Ukraine on the possible use of a ‘dirty bomb’.
2. UN Security Council’s Counter-Terrorism Committee meet to be held in Mumbai & Delhi on October 28 and 29. The theme will be ‘Countering the use of new and emerging technologies for terrorist purposes’.
3. Envoys of Five Nations presented their credentials to President Droupadi Murmu today. Mrs Murmu accepted credentials from High Commissioner of Uganda and Ambassadors of Vietnam, Iran, Sweden, and Belgium at a ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
4. The bilateral trade between India and China crossed the $100 billion mark in the first nine months of 2022, according to the Chinese customs. Bilateral trade in 2022 stood at $103.63 billion, which is 14.6% higher than the same period last year. Total Chinese exports to India in the first nine months of 2022 was worth $89.66 billion.
5. Trees Beyond Forests initiative: The “trees outside forests in India (TOFI)” programme was introduced by the Assam government and the US Agency for International Development (USAID)with the goal of bringing together farmers, businesses, and private institutions to increase the amount of trees in the State’s non-traditional forests.

Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will visit China next week along with a high-level delegation, including Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari to meet Chinese President Xi Jinping, and hold delegation-level talks with Premier Li Keqiang. This would be Shehbaz’s first visit to China since assuming office in April this year.
