1. Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur will be on a three-day official visit to Dubai from today (26 Mar). During the visit, the minister will attend CEO roundtable with leading personalities of the cinema exhibition and television world. He will also visit the India Pavilion at the Dubai Expo where Media and Entertainment Week has been going on throughout the week. 2. President Ram Nath Kovind awarded the prestigious President’s Colour to Indian Naval Ship- INS) Valsura in Jamnagar- Gujarat this morning. The President’s Colour is bestowed on a military unit in recognition of exceptional service rendered to the nation, both in peace and in war.
3. Sri Lankan Navy has arrested 16 Indian fishermen from Ramanathapuram district in Tamil Nadu. They set sail for fishing from Mandapam and Rameswaram on Wednesday and were apprehended by the naval personnel on charges of trespassing into the Lankan territorial waters. Their two boats have also been seized.
4. In Hyderabad Telangana, the first day of Wings India, Asia’s largest civil aviation event, witnessed overwhelming activity on Thursday with the participation of over 125 international and domestic exhibitors and delegations from 15 nations and various Indian states and union territories.
5. The Supreme Court-appointed panel probing the alleged use of Israeli spyware Pegasus for snooping has sought comments on 11 questions from the public until March 31. The questions include whether the boundaries of state surveillance are well defined and understood and what should be the grievance redressal mechanism in case someone is subjected to targeted surveillance.

1.NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg says that any use of chemical or nuclear weapons will totally change the nature of the war in Ukraine. It will be absolutely unacceptable.
2. Hungary’s Prime Minister Viktor Orban rejects an appeal from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to supply Ukraine with weapons and support sanctions on Russia’s energy sector.
3. UN Human Rights office says its strict methodology in counting casualties in Ukraine’s conflict has yielded very few confirmed casualties in Mariupol, largely because of difficulties getting access in and information out of the besieged port city.
4. Satellite imagery has captured collapse of a large ice shelf in East Antarctica. The Conger ice shelf, which sits off the East Antarctic coast adjacent to the much larger Shackleton ice shelf, completely collapsed around March 15. It was around 1,200 square kilometres, almost as big as Rome. The region experienced record high temperatures over last few days.
5. The winner of the Abel Prize 2022 is Dennis Parnell Sullivan, an American mathematician : He received this award for his contributions to topology, especially its geometric, algebraic, and dynamical aspects.
