PM Modi conferred Egypt’s highest civilian honour ‘Order of The Nile’

1. PM Modi & Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi hold bilateral talks in Cairo; Sign agreement to elevate bilateral relationship to Strategic Partnership, including in trade and investment, defence and security, renewable energy.

2. Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi confers PM Narendra Modi with ‘Order of the Nile’ award, in Cairo.

3. PM Modi, who was in Egypt’s Cairo on a two-day trip, said that he was honoured to visit the historic Al-Hakim 11th Century Mosque.

1. Israeli lawmakers began debating a bill that would limit the Supreme Court’s (SC) powers, rebooting a fiercely opposed judicial overhaul instigated by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu-led coalition government.

2. Greece, people went to the polls today for the second time in little over a month to elect a new parliament, with voters expected to give former Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis’ conservatives a second term in office.

3. People experiencing record temperatures in Beijing & parts of northern China; Authorities urge inhabitants to limit their time outdoors. Recorded temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius for a third consecutive day.

4. The head of the private Russian military company Wagner, Yevgeny Prigozhin ordered his troops to move to neighbouring Belarus as part of a deal to defuse rebellion tensions.

5. Russian President Vladimir Putin has called the rebellion by Prigozhin a stab in the back and vowed to punish those responsible.

6. The Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested the founder of the newly founded terror outfit of Bangladesh Jama’atul Ansar Fil Hindal Sharqiya Shamin Mahfuz alias Manring Morong and his wife from Dhaka.

7. The German Parliament approved a new immigration law designed to attract skilled workers to the country.

8. In Baluchistan: A police official was killed and two others were injured when a police van was targeted in a bomb blast at Chakar Azam Chowk by a female suicide attacker on Saturday.

9. Pakistan’s Parliament on Sunday approved a PKR 14.48 trillion Budget for FY24. The Budget was revised a day earlier to include fiscal tightening measures to secure a bailout package from International Monetary Fund (IMF). The revised Budget aims to achieve an additional PKR 215 billion in tax revenue and cut public spending by PKR 85 billion.

10. NASA has created an all-electric aircraft as part of its commitment to support the US climate goal of achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions from the aviation sector by 2050. The X-57 Maxwell project will be finished later this year.
