Two Indian American scientists were awarded the National Medal of Technology and Innovation by US President Joe Biden at the White House on Tuesday. The two Indian-Americans — Ashok Gadgil and Subra Suresh — were awarded the National Medal of Technology and Innovation and the National Medal of Science, respectively.

8. Debt-ridden Sri Lanka has assured China of its continued active participation in the controversial Belt and Road Initiative during the recent visit of President Ranil Wickremesinghe to Beijing. Wickremesinghe visited China from October 16 to 20 to attend the third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation hosted by Chinese President Xi Jinping.

9. The five-day-long celebration of Durga Puja in Bangladesh concluded yesterday with the immersion of the idols of Goddess Durga. The immersion was preceded by elaborate rituals like Sindoor Khela in which women play with vermillion and perform ritual dance on the last day of Durga.
