Greece moves 19,000 people to safety, some by boat. Tourists flee hotels, gather on beaches. Thousands spent the night on beaches and streets during what Greece said was its biggest safe transport of residents and tourists in emergency conditions.

Some 19,000 people were moved from homes and hotels overnight as fires burning since Wednesday gathered pace, tearing through forests until the flames reached coastal resorts on the island’s south-eastern coast.

1. The G20 Disaster Risk Reduction Working Group, under the Indian Presidency, is set to hold its third and final meeting in Chennai from July 24th to July 26th.

2. India and Bangladesh signed a contract for installation of computer based interlocking signalling system for Dhaka-Tongi-Joydebpur rail line at Rail Bhaban, Dhaka.

1. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu underwent emergency surgery to implant a pacemaker on Sunday.

2. A wildfire raging on the Greece island of Rhodes forced thousands of tourists and island residents to shelter in schools and indoor stadiums.

3. Bangladesh, the appellate division of the Supreme Court on Sunday ordered Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus to pay 12 crore Taka tax.

Dr. Yunus has donated money to three of his own trusts namely: Dr. Mohammad Yunus Trust, Yunus Family Trust, And Yunus Centre Trust. Income Tax Authorities in Bangladesh imposed a tax on Money donated to these three trusts.

4. In Bangladesh, at least 17 people including seven children and five women were killed and 35 others injured on Saturday as a bus plunged into the roadside pond.

5. The party of Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen has declared a landslide victory in a general election on Sunday. The election took place for the 125 seats of the Parliament on 23rd July 2023.

The 70-year-old former communist, Khmer Rouge fighter Hun Sen has been in power for 38 years. Political watchers say this Cambodian election has set the stage for Hun Sen’s transition of power to his eldest son and top military general Hun Manet.

6. Thousands of Israelis marched into Jerusalem on Saturday against judicial reforms plan, as pressure mounts on the government to scrap a bill that would curtail the Supreme Court’s powers.

7. Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune on Saturday said that the country has applied to join the BRICS group and submitted a request to become a shareholder member of the BRICS Bank.

8. In a terrible occurrence on Friday, hundreds of armed men attacked a village nearby Sukkur in Sindh, kidnapped two women and a child, and killed at least two men. This is only the latest in a long line of atrocities committed against the people of Sindh in Pakistan.
