1. Director General of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Grossi met Russian military and state atomic energy company officials in Moscow on Thursday. Discussions focused on setting up a protection zone around the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant in Donetsk region, which Russia occupied from Ukraine recently.

2. Sri Lanka’s Power and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera has refuted the claims of the Engineers’ union of 10-hour-long power cuts in January.

3. A group of Afghan women staged a defiant protest in Kabul on Thursday against a Taliban order banning them from universities.

3. The U.N. Security Council has adopted its first ever resolution on Myanmar in 74 years to demand an end to violence and urge the military junta to release all political prisoners, including ousted leader Aung San Suu Kyi.

4. The United States has announced that it would provide its key Patriot missile defence system to Ukraine. The Patriot missile system can be used as a shield against short-range ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and incoming jets.

6. Peru has ordered the Mexican ambassador to leave within 72 hours after Mexico granted asylum to the family of ousted Peruvian President Pedro Castillo.

7. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky delivered a historic speech from the United States Capitol Wednesday night, expressing gratitude for American support in fighting Russian aggression since the war began – and asking for more.

“I hope my words of respect and gratitude resonate in each American heart,” Zelensky said during the joint meeting of Congress, later adding, “Against all odds, and doom and gloom scenarios, Ukraine didn’t fall. Ukraine is alive and kicking.” Zelenskyy, who delivered his entire address in English, thanked Americans for support and vowed Ukraine “will win because we are united — Ukraine, America and the entire free world.”
