1. British PM Boris Johnson is expected to announce investments in science and technology collaborations in Gujarat. He visited Gujarat Biotechnology University, GIFT city in Gandhinagar and also visited the JCB Company plant at Halol near Vadodara along with Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel.
2. External Affairs Ministry said that India had received a request from Japan for permission to land in Mumbai to pick up humanitarian supplies from United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) depot for Ukraine and its
neighbouring countries.
3. Pakistan’s intelligence agency sleuths are using the Kartarpur corridor to meet and cultivate contacts among Indians going on the pilgrimage.
The Indian side is collecting evidence and the matter will be raised with Pakistan soon. India has also objected to the business meets being held at the corridor.
4. A 12-member business delegation from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will arrive by private jet at the Srinagar International Airport on 22 Apr afternoon to explore investment opportunities in India’s newest Union Territory.

6. Mauritius Prime Minister Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, who is on an eight-day visit to India, offered prayers at Kashi Vishwanath Temple in Varanasi.

1. Hina Rabbani Khar, Pakistan’s first woman foreign minister in the last Pakistan Peoples Party government, was named junior FM in the newly formed Shehbaz Sharif cabinet.
2. Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday claimed the “liberation” of the flattened city of Mariupol after nearly two months of fighting, but signalled he would forgo a final bloody offensive against beleaguered Ukrainian defenders there.
3. Russia on Thursday banned 29 Americans from entering the Russian Federation “indefinitely”.
The Americans who were banned from entering Russia include Facebook Co-founder Mark Zuckerberg, US Vice President Kamala Harris, Deputy Defence Secretary Kathleen Hicks and Pentagon spokesperson John Kirby and other business leaders, officials and journalists. Russia also barred the entry of 61 Canadians.
4. 10 people were killed and over 50 people were injured in a blast at a Shiite mosque in the northern Afghanistan city of Mazar-e-Sharif on Thursday, according to reports. The Islamic State (ISIS) has reportedly claimed responsibility for the mosque blast.
