Ukraine signals readiness to fight on Black Sea after Russia threatens ships. Ukraine has warned that it could target all shipping out of Russian and Russian-occupied ports and signalled its readiness to fight on the Black Sea, after Moscow’s declaration of a naval blockade and bombardment of Ukrainian ports.
1. Gujarat signed a MoU on 19th July with London-Based Company, OneWeb Company and the Department of Science and Technology to set up a ‘Satellite Network Portal Site’.
2. India and Japan signed an MoU for the development of a semiconductor ecosystem. “The MoU is on five fronts, namely, semiconductor design, manufacturing, equipment research, talent development and bringing resilience to the semiconductor supply chain,” Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said.
3. 15 Indian-origin men have been arrested for allegedly running a cargo theft ring in Canada and property worth over CAD 9 million was recovered along with stolen goods.
4. The Ministry of Ayush organized a Conference of India and the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) on traditional medicines in New Delhi. A total of 75 delegates from India and ASEAN participated in the Conference.
5. Sri Lanka President Ranil Wickremesinghe arrives in New Delhi on a two-day visit.
6. External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar met visiting German Vice Chancellor Robert Habeck in New Delhi.
7. The Startup20 engagement Group and Jagriti Foundation under India’s G20 presidency decided to launch Global Yatra in promoting inclusive entrepreneurship across the globe.
8. Union Minister of Steel, Jyotiraditya Scindia, met Japan’s Economy, Trade and Industry minister Nishimura Yasutoshi on Thursday and reaffirmed its commitment towards the ‘Make in India’ program.

1. Russia has warned that ships travelling to Ukraine’s Black Sea ports will be considered military threats. This came after Ukraine said it’d set up a temporary shipping route to continue grain exports following Russia’s withdrawal from a deal that allowed food shipments from Ukraine’s ports.
2. One policeman was killed, and eight others, including civilians, were injured after two suicide bombers blew themselves up in front of Bara police station in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. The attackers belonged to the Pakistan Taliban (TTP) faction, Jamaat ul Ahrar.
3. A building at the Chinese consulate in Ukraine’s Odesa was damaged in a Russian missile and drone attack, regional governor Oleh Kiper said on Thursday.
Russia, which is an ally of China, attacked the Ukrainian port cities of Odesa and Mykolaiv overnight for the third successive night in an apparent retaliation for the Crimean bridge attack.
4. International Moon Day is celebrated on July 20 every year to mark the day when humans first landed on the Moon as part of NASA’s Apollo 11 mission. Astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin landed on the Moon on July 20, 1969. UN’s General Assembly declared it as an international day to be observed in a resolution.
5. Israel said it will allow visa-free entry to all US citizens, including Palestinian Americans living in the occupied West Bank and the Gaza Strip.
6. Belarusian Defence Ministry on Thursday said that Wagner Group mercenaries have started training Belarusian special forces near the Polish border.
7. Iraq on Thursday threatened to sever its diplomatic ties with Sweden if another Quran is burnt there. The warning came shortly after hundreds of protesters stormed into the Swedish embassy in Baghdad and set it ablaze, angered over a planned Quran burning.
Last month, a copy of the Quran was burnt outside a Swedish mosque.
