1. India has flagged to Ottawa the Indo-Canadian community’s concerns over a bill before Canada’s Parliament to ban the sale and display of hateful symbols, including the swastika for its association with Nazism.
2. The bill seeks to “prevent the display or sale of symbols or emblems such as the Nazi swastika and the Ku Klux Klan’s insignia, flags such as the standards of Germany between the years 1933 to 1945 and those of the Confederate States of America between the years 1861 to 1865 and uniforms, including the German and Confederate States of America military dress of those periods, as well as the hoods and robes of the Ku Klux Klan”.
3. PM met members of the Sikh-Hindu Delegation from Afghanistan at his residence in New Delhi. They thanked the Prime Minister for bringing Sikhs and Hindus safely to India from Afghanistan.
4. External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar held a series of one-to-one meetings with Ministers from Europe, Asia and other parts of the world on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference in Germany.
5. *Three colleges shut down abruptly in Canada; advisory issued for Indian students :*
The Indian High Commission in Canada has issued an advisory for Indian students affected by the abrupt closure of three colleges in the country. “High Commission has been approached by several students…In the event that they find any difficulty in reimbursement of their fees.

1. German foreign ministry on Saturday advised its nationals in Ukraine to leave the country immediately citing a possibility of a “military confrontation” in the region amid rising tensions between West and Russia.
2. Nepal PM Sher Bahadur Deuba on 19 Feb announced that the federal and province elections will be held after local level polls.
3. Nine people were killed across Europe on Friday by Storm Eunice, leaving about 4 lakh people in Britain without power. Toppled trees killed four people in Netherlands and a man in Liverpool was killed by flying debris. The Met Office recorded a 196 kmph gust of wind as over 400 flights were reportedly cancelled across the UK.
4. Russia on Saturday said it hit sea and land-based targets with ballistic and cruise missiles that were launched as part of its strategic nuclear exercises amid tensions with Ukraine. The exercise featured launches of Kinzhal and Tsirkon hypersonic missiles and a number of other weapons, Kremlin said. The exercise was overseen by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
5. NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg on Saturday said he wrote to Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov offering more talks between NATO Council, Russia to defuse the Ukrainian crisis.
