1. India appoints Naveen Srivastava as next ambassador to Nepal

2. Russia became the fourth-largest oil supplier to India in April, tanker tracking data showed. Russia’s share in India’s oil purchases rose to a record 6%, about 2,77,000 barrels per day (bpd) in April, up from about 66,000 bpd in March, when it was in 10th position.

3. Minister of State for External Affairs V. Muraleedharan will lead the Indian delegation for the First International Migration Review Forum being held under the auspices of the General Assembly at the United Nations in New York from 17th to 20th of this month.

1. The US Air Force on Monday claimed that it had successfully tested a hypersonic weapon. The test was conducted on Saturday off the coast of Southern California when a B-52 bomber released an Air-launched Rapid Response Weapon (ARRW)

2. Indonesia to end outdoor mask mandate as COVID-19 cases decline

3. World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus claimed that China’s ‘Zero-COVID’ policy is unsustainable because of the highly infectious nature of the Omicron variant.

4. Russia is moving nuclear-capable Iskander missiles towards its border with Finland, after the latter announced its intentions to join NATO, reports have said.

5. The Finnish Parliament on Tuesday approved the proposal for Finland’s membership of the NATO. Of the 200 lawmakers, 188 voted in favour and eight against the application.

6. The UK on Tuesday announced that it would end all overseas aid spending in China. The UK had spent around 13 million pounds on aid to China last year.
