1. An Indian flight, a Hyderabad-bound IndiGo airliner from Sharjah was diverted to Pakistan’s Karachi airport after the pilot reported a technical defect.

“IndiGo flight 6E-1406, operating from Sharjah to Hyderabad was diverted to Karachi. The pilot observed a technical defect. Earlier, on July 5, a Dubai-bound SpiceJet flight from New Delhi made a precautionary landing in Pakistan’s Karachi airport after the pilot developed a technical glitch.

2. BJP President JP Nadda held a meeting with former Prime Minister of Nepal, Pushpa K Dahal “Prachanda” in New Delhi as part of ‘Know the BJP’ initiative. JP Nadda said they had fruitful discussions over strengthening and deepening ties between India and Nepal.

3. 52nd BGB-BSF DG level conference starts in Bangladesh. Two sides discuss a wide range of issues related to border management, smuggling of arms & ammunition, drugs, trafficking of women and children and various developmental activities within 150 yards of international border.

1. A cargo plane which crashed in northern Greece was carrying 11 tonnes of weapons including landmines to Bangladesh. People living within two kilometres of the site where the Antonov-12 came down have been warned to stay indoors.

2. Southwest Europe continues to battle summer heatwave that triggered devastating forest fires. Heatwave showing no sign of easing in Portugal, Spain and France. Portugese authorities say, at least 238 people died from the heat over past week in the country.

3. The Japanese government announced its decision to honour former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe with the country’s highest decoration “the Collar of the Supreme Order of the Chrysanthemum” posthumously.

4. A hydrazine leak on a SpaceX cargo Dragon spacecraft caused the launch of the spacecraft to be delayed by more than a month.

The spacecraft is now on its way to the International Space Station. Seven and a half minutes after takeoff, the Falcon 9 first stage landed on a droneship in the Atlantic Ocean. The stage successfully launched the Turksat 5B communications satellite, as well as NASA’s Crew-3, Crew-4, and CRS-22 missions.

4. Google Parent Alphabet appoints Goldman Sachs Veteran, Marty Chavez to Board. His appointment marks the first change to the Alphabet board since 2020 when former Google Chief Executive Officer Eric Schmidt departed.
