1. PM Modi virtually addresses World Economic Forum in Davos : PM Modi has expressed confidence that in the times to come India will fulfil the hopes and aspirations of the world. Virtually delivering ‘State of the World’ address at World Economic Forum, Davos Summit, PM said, India is moving forward with great strength and vigour. He said, India is celebrating its 75th year of Independence and also the administration of 160 crore vaccine doses in the country.

2. The People’s Liberation Army (PLA) of China is seeking the withdrawal of Indian troops from a key position in the Hot Springs area in eastern Ladakh, fearing they could choke its access to the Galwan valley, senior government sources have told.

3. Nepal government on Sunday urged India to stop the road construction in Lipulekh area and asserted that it is committed to resolve the border issues on the basis of evidences and through diplomatic channels.

4. External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar on Monday spoke to Swedish Foreign Minister Ann Linde. The conversation covered the Covid situation, green transition and Nordic cooperation.

1. Amid continued Chinese belligerence and reunification threats to Taiwan, US and Japan could stock weapons in each other’s defense facilities, including islands near Taiwan.

2. The Philippines will buy 32 new Black Hawk helicopters for more than $620 million, the defence secretary said Sunday, in the nation’s latest big-ticket purchase to upgrade its ageing military capability.

3. Two Indians among three killed in a possible drone attack in Abu Dhabi: An explosion that struck three oil tankers in Abu Dhabi and another fire at an extension of Abu Dhabi International Airport on Monday that killed three people and injured six. Abu Dhabi police identified the dead as two Indian nationals and one Pakistani.

4. The government of Bangladesh has reduced the minimum age for getting the COVID 19 booster from 60 years to 50 years.

5. Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida on Monday stated that the country will bring forward its booster doses by two months, amid the rising COVID-19 cases. During his policy speech in Parliament, PM Kishida said that the booster dose will be administered six months after the second shot, rather than the originally planned eight months.

6. UN secretary-general’s special envoy on Myanmar, Noeleen Heyzer, met Thailand PM on Monday to seek support on preventing “further deterioration” of crisis in Myanmar.

7. Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko on Monday said that Russia and Belarus will hold joint military drills in February amid the tensions between East and West over Ukraine.
