Bhutan announces its highest civilian award to PM Modi

1. Bhutan announces its highest civilian award to PM Modi;: On the occasion of Bhutan’s national day, Bhutan has decided to confer its highest civilian award Ngadag Pel gi Khorlo or The Order of The Druk Gyaplo to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

2. Third India-Central Asia Dialogue to begin in Delhi on 17 Dec. Foreign Minister of Kyrgyz Republic, Ruslan Kazakbaev and Tajikistan Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Muhriddin reached Delh for the third India-Central Asia Dialogue to be held from 18 Dec.

3. The United States has said in a report on global terrorism that terror groups targeting India continue to operate from Pakistan and its domestic authorities did not act against known terrorists, including JeM chief and UN-blacklisted Masood Azhar and 2008 Mumbai.

4. Highlighting the US-India cooperation, the report said that the United States continues to build its strategic partnership with India, including through bilateral engagements such as the 17th Counterterrorism Joint Working Group and Third Designations Dialogue in September, as well as the third 22 Ministerial Dialogue in October.

1. In Japan, at least 27 people are feared to have died after a fire broke out in a building in downtown Osaka on 17 Dec. Police are investigating the main cause for the accident.

2. UK reports over 93,000 COVID-19 cases in 24 hrs, 3rd consecutive daily record: The United Kingdom on Friday reported 93,045 new COVID-19 cases, a third consecutive record daily tally since the beginning of the pandemic. As per official data, 111 people died within 28 days of testing COVID-19 positive. On Thursday, the UK saw 88,376 COVID-19 cases while 78,610 cases were reported on Wednesday. Currently, the UK has over 14,000 cases of Omicron.

3. Philippine Prez to visit typhoon-hit areas after it claims 12 lives
President Rodrigo Duterte is slated to visit the flood-affected regions of Central Philippines . This comes after at least 12 were killed and several buildings and trees suffered damage due to Typhoon Rai.
