INTERNATIONAL NEWS

1. India’s foreign secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla condemned at UN Security Council (UNSC) meeting on Friday the killing of Indian photojournalist Danish Siddiqui at Kandahar province in Afghanistan.

2. Siddiqui was killed on 16 Jul, while covering a clash between Afghan security forces & Taliban fighters. He was covering the situation in Kandahar over the last couple of days.

3. India May Procure Israeli Anti-drone Systems SMASH 2000 Plus:
India is likely to make a decision soon on the deployment of anti-drone technology at military installations across the country.

4. The Army on 16 Jul (Friday) said it was encouraging to see an overwhelming response from people in Kashmir to the ‘Swarnim Vijay Mashaal’ — the victory flame to celebrate India’s victory over Pakistan in the 1971 war — as the force paid floral tributes to soldiers who laid down their lives for the country.

5. China’s People’s Liberation Army is building permanent structures at a number of points at the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Ladakh, Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim as it seems to be intending to put its troops in the forward areas for much longer period.

1. The United States Air Force is sending more than two dozen F-22 stealth fighters to an exercise in the western Pacific this month, amid tensions with China.

2. China has increased its diplomatic pressure on Pakistan as Chinese Premier Li Keqiang has urged his Pakistani counterpart to hold accountable the culprits in what he described as a “terrorist attack” on a bus taking Chinese workers, Chinese embassy in Islamabad issued a security alert to Chinese citizens & projects in Pakistan.

3. 80 people have died and hundreds more are unaccounted for in Germany after the worst flooding hit. Record rainfall in western Europe caused rivers to burst their banks.
