1. The High Commission of India in Bangladesh handed over a Life Support Ambulance and essential medical supplies to the Kumudini Hospital in Mirzapur. The ambulance is part of the overall programme for supply of 109 Life Support Ambulances, announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to Bangladesh in March 2021

2. The brand new ambulance is fitted with modern, critical life saving equipment. It can be used by the paramedics and first responders to provide emergency care and trauma life support to patients en-route to hospital for treatment.

3. Global Hunger Index 2021, which is prepared jointly by Irish aid agency called ‘Concern Worldwide’ and German organisation called ‘Welt Hunger Hilfe’, was released on October 14, 2021. India has been placed to 101st position out of 116 countries. GHI is a tool to measure and track hunger across the world, by region as well as by country. It is calculated annually and its results are published in a report issued in the month of October each year.

1. Fully vaccinated foreign visitors can enter the United States from November 8, the White House has said in a statement.

2. UK, Member of Parliament Sir David Amess has died on 15 Oct after being stabbed at his constituency surgery in Essex. Police said a 25-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after the stabbing at a church in Leigh-on-Sea. Sixty-nine-year-old David had been an MP since 1983.

3. 37 killed, 70 injured as blasts hit Shia mosque in Afghanistan’s Kandahar. Three explosions tore through a Shia mosque during Friday prayers in the Afghan city of Kandahar on 14 Oct.

4. South Korea will ease Corona Virus restrictions next week amid its increasing vaccination rate.

5. 46 people have been killed and dozens more seriously injured in a fire at a 13-storey tower block in southern Taiwan. A residential and commercial building in the city of Kaohsiung caught fire in the early hours of Thursday morning.
