1. India will get delivery of the first three of 24 MH-60R Seahawk helicopters next month,* manufactured by the US-based Sikorsky-Lockheed Martin.
The fourth-generation MH-60R ‘Romeo’ helicopters will replace India’s British Sea King helicopters acquired in the 1970s.

2. India likely to join B3W project to counter China’s BRI ; India-SA TRIPS proposal gets support at G7
– India and the G-7 member countries have agreed on an infrastructural proposal of Build Back Better World (B3W) as an alternative to the Chinese Belt and Road (BRI). Keeping in mind the principles of “transparency and inclusion’’, this was endorsed at the G7 summit.

3. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met with his Qatari counterpart Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani in Doha. Both the leaders discussed bilateral cooperation and exchanged views on regional and global issues. This is the minister’s 2nd visit to the Gulf nation in less than a week’s time.

1. The govt of Bangladesh has authorised Johnson and Johnson single dose COVID vaccine for emergency use in the country.

2. Twenty-eight Chinese air force aircraft, including fighters and nuclear-capable bombers, entered Taiwan’s air defence identification zone (ADIZ) on Tuesday, the island’s government said, the largest reported incursion.

3. 25 killed in gas explosion in Hubei, China. The blast occurred on Sunday (13 June) that ripped through the market in the city of Shiyan which injured 138 people. Chinese President Xi Jinping has called for a thorough investigation into the cause of the blast.

4. The National Investigation Agency has announced a reward of 10 lakh rupees for information on two suspects in the Israel embassy blast case.

5. Recent commercial satellite imagery reveals that China has made substantial progress in the construction of its third aircraft carrier, commonly known as the Type 003. The vessel is slated to become the largest surface combatant in the Chinese People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) and significantly upgrade China’s naval capabilities.

6. Saudi Arabia cancels Haj performance for foreign pilgrims this year in view of COVID-19 pandemic. Saudi has decided to allow citizens and residents inside the Kingdom only to attend Haj in limited numbers.
