1. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met Sweden’s Defence Minister Pal Jonson and Foreign Minister Tobias Billstrom during his three-day visit to Sweden.

2. PM Modi and US President Joe Biden will explore opportunities to expand and consolidate engagement of the Quadrilateral Security Dialogue as part of a larger strategy to blunt China’s growing assertiveness in the Indo-Pacific vision.

3. The 3rd Energy Transitions Working Group Meeting (ETWG) under India’s G20 Presidency will be held in Mumbai from Monday.

1. Death toll among followers of a cult who believed they’d go to heaven if they starved themselves has risen to 201 after 22 more bodies were discovered on Saturday. The leader of the religious cult, Paul Mackenzie, allegedly told his followers to starve to death to meet the God.

2. New Zealand government has said it’s allocating around $720 million to help communities recover from a cyclone and floods that hit the country in February.

3. Former Pakistan PM Imran Khan said, “Freedom doesn’t come easily. You’ve to snatch it. You’ve to sacrifice for it.” He called for his supporters to hold protests across the country on Sunday and announced a return to campaigning on Wednesday for immediate elections. Khan was arrested on May 9 in Al-Qadir Trust corruption case.

4. NASA took to Twitter to mark the 50th anniversary of the launch of the US’ first space station ‘Skylab’ into space. “Our first space station launched into orbit on May 14, 1973.

5. Mali’s interim military government has dismissed a report by United Nations human rights office on the alleged execution of at least 500 people by Malian soldiers.

6. Two Russian fighter jets and two military helicopters were shot down on Saturday close to the Ukrainian border, Russian news outlet Kommersant reported.

7. US State Secretary Antony Blinken has expressed concerns over reports of China forcefully gathering DNA from Tibetans in Tibet

8. Turkey likely to head for runoff presidential polls as Erdogan’s vote share falls below 50%. According to state-run Anadolu news agency, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan led with 49.39% of votes while his opposition rival Kemal Kilicdaroglu garnered 44.92%. Nearly 97% of ballot boxes have been counted so far. Erdogan (69), is seeking a third five-year term as the president in an election seen as a verdict on his authoritarian governance. He has ruled the country with an iron fist for 20 years — first as prime minister from 2003 to 2014 and as president since 2014.
